FAQs
How many sessions will I need?
Each individuals journey is specific to that person. Therapy is more of a tool than a goal, so the session totals may vary.
How often will I need to have sessions?
Starting out it may be beneficial to begin with consistent sessions on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. Once we together have determined your goals through our therapist-client relationship, we can decide how often to have sessions that will best suit your needs.
How can I pay for my sessions?
During your first appointment, we will discuss fees and payment options. Your payments will be processed and you will receive an invoice/ receipt after every session to share with your insurance provider to be reimbursed by them.
What approaches or techniques are used at MayLuna Counselling?
MayLuna Counselling specializes in using techniques like: CBT, DBT, Mindfulness, Goal books.
How long is the typical duration of therapy?
Sessions are typically between 45-50 minutes long to allow for a debrief after each session to complete the full hour.
Why should I choose a Social Worker?
People consult social workers when they are going through a difficult time in their personal, family, and/or work lives. Social workers help identify the source of stress or difficulty, help people to develop coping skills, and find effective strategies/solutions to their problems. Social workers help you understand your situation, help you to stay motivated, help you learn how to ease your emotional pain, and help you get back to yourself.
What is your approach to goal-setting and tracking progress throughout the therapy journey?
Each client will receive a goal “diary” during their first session which we will use to track our progress throughout our time together. We will also provide clients occasionally with surveys and progress reports to review our growth.
How do you handle emergencies or crisis situations ?
As MayLuna Counselling is not a facility, we ask that you contact emergency services or your emergency contact for immediate help. Please check out our “Helpful Resources” section for additional aid for those who may feel that they are struggling.
Do you offer a sliding scale?
A sliding scale may be offered to clients who can verify that they are of a lower income. Consideration for a sliding scale will be offered with completion of our intake form.
Do you offer in-person appointments?
